You’ll be glad to know that the Quick Notes function has an effortless and nearly immediate keyboard shortcut that will open the Notes app on the Mac to type information and keep critical information.
What is the keyboard shortcut for effortlessly making a Quick Note right away? It’s Q/fn/globe.
Quick Note Shortcut Mac: fn+Q
The function key, often known as the globe key or “fn” key, is situated in the bottom left corner of your Mac keyboard and may be labeled differently depending on the model year of your specific Mac.
To quickly take notes with the Quick Notes function on the Mac, use this keyboard shortcut from any location.

Just be careful not to confuse FN+Q with command, as doing so would cause the current app to be closed, which is not what you desire when trying to take notes.
Once you’ve made a Quick Note, you can scan documents, share them, password-protect them, and do whatever else you can in the Notes app on a Mac.
You must have macOS Monterey or later installed on the Mac to use the Quick Note function to create a new Quick Note, let alone use a keyboard shortcut. The capability is not available in earlier versions of the Mac operating system.
You aren’t entirely out of luck if you’re still running an older version of macOS. Simply opening Notes in Spotlight will allow you to create create a new note, or you may utilize the excellent macOS Make Sticky Note service to create a new note in the perfect, lightweight, but little-used Stickies program.
Even though this post focuses on creating a new Quick Note on a Mac with a single keystroke, if you have an iPad with a keyboard and a recent version of iPadOS, you can also utilize the fn+Q keyboard shortcut on the iPad too.
