How to unlock your iPhone with Apple Watch in iOS 14.5
Apple’s first iOS 14.5 beta, seeded to developers on the 1st of February, gives us the capacity to unlock iPhone with an Apple Watch for the first time. Of course, this is very convenient since we are still regularly wearing masks. Follow along to learn how you set it!
Earlier iOS 14 releases did make adjustments to Face ID that allow it to work better with some face coverings. But it seems that Face ID won’t work for most of us when we’re wearing a mask.
Preferably than trying to tweak Face ID again, Apple is executing a better solution: The capacity to unlock iPhone with Apple Watch in much the same way you can unlock a Mac.
How to unlock iPhone with Apple Watch
Before you proceed, you’ll need to ensure your iPhone is running iOS 14.5, and that your Apple Watch is running watchOS 7.4. They’re in beta for developers only for now, but public releases should come soon.
- Open the Settings app on iPhone.
- Tap Face ID & Passcode, then enter your passcode.
- Under Unlock with Apple Watch, tap the toggle alongside your wearable to enable the new feature.
